The right amount – with a single, smooth motion.

The chashaku (茶杓) is Japan’s traditional matcha scoop. Together with the chasen and chawan, it is one of the three essential tools for preparing matcha. In the tea ceremony, it is handled with care and often even given a poetic name – a testament to the significance of this simple tool.

Its slender, gently curved shape is designed to scoop matcha cleanly from the tin and measure out the perfect portion into the bowl.

Why this chashaku?

  • Made in Japan – traditional design, crafted in Japan
  • Precise dosing – 1–2 scoops for a bowl of usucha (approx. 1–2 g)
  • Natural material – lightweight, comfortable to hold, with no metallic taste
  • The perfect complement to our Takayama chasen

Care

After use, wipe only with a dry, soft cloth. Do not soak in water or put in the dishwasher – this will keep the scoop beautiful for years.
